The day has come, you are selling your home all by yourselves. Advertisement is in place. Calls are coming in, and a few people already showed an interest and want to see your home. You are very excited, your confidence level is high. This is the time you may over look at the safety of yourselves, your family and your personal property. • Make sure you are not alone in the house when the caller/s come to see your home.
• Hide away possible pickpocketing items. – Deliver from temptations.
• Have all lights on in every room and hallway.
• Explain to them before the tour of your home the following: no photographing of any thing inside of your home. No prying the wall or floor or its coverings
• Do not leave them in a room, even in the bathrooms with out your supervision.
• Answer their questions truthfully; do not make any guaranties and warranties
• Ask for their interest in ownership, pry on their qualifications, and ability to own this home. (you could weed out "Just looking" from serious buyers)
• If they want to see cabinet space and closets you open it for them. (unfamiliar people break many doors)
• If you have pets, keep them away from visitor contact. (You do not want pets to feel they are family members. You never know what visitor’s intentions are.)
• Make sure they all drive away.
• Secure the locks.
• You may keep your yard sign with temporary telephone number. (Do you want every body to know you are home alone?).
• Yard sign is an invitation for neighborhood vandalism.
• Keep an inventory of your out door plantings and furnishing
• Keep the walkway and sidewalk clean. Main entrance makes the first impression.
• Keep the home odor free. Smell / aroma is no substitution for cleanness.
